Sony PlayStation 4 is one powerful games console available in the market and has established itself as the next generation console to beat. It has more graphical power than Microsoft’s Xbox One, a firm focus on gaming experiences instead of media mojo and 32 times higher system memory than PS3. This games console has been built by gamers for gamers and has won the minds and hearts of many gaming enthusiasts. The PS4 is designed around the semi-custom PC components from AMD, an aspect that lowers the manufacturing costs as well as simplifying game development. It does not come with the PS Camera but this can be purchased separately if you so wish.

The dashboard of the PS4 looks similar to that of PS3. However, it has been redesigned making it easier for one to browse and access online game content. Games can be suspended instantly by pressing the PlayStation button where the system features are freely accessible before the game is resumed where it last left off. This next-gen console allows one to upload video clips, screenshots and stream live gameplay to other users around the world. One of the favorite features is the wall of livestreams from other PS4 consoles, serving up a number of games on both Twitch and Ustream from user all over the world. The voice chat now works in groups across the different games and can be used through the in-ear microphone, established Bluetooth devices and PS camera. It allows one to sign in automatically with facial recognition when initially turning the console on. One can also navigate the dashboard by voice.

The differences between PS4 and Xbox One are in fact evident even before you switch them one. The two consoles sport similar half matte half-gloss finishes and contain almost the same internal components. However, there are some differences in the two. The PS4 is sleek and smaller in size compared to the massive square cuboid shape of the Xbox One. This makes PS4 half the weight and size of the Xbox One. Many prospective next generation gamers prefer the PS4 over the Xbox One since they feel alienated by some bizarre policies set by Microsoft most of which have been reversed in response to the backlash. The PS4 is also cheaper than the Xbox one by about $100, coming in at a price of $400, thereby making it appear to be of terrific value to the customer.

The PS4 has a custom single chip processor which combines an 8 core x86-64 AMD CPU with 1.84 teraflop GPU that is based on Radeon technology. This is backed by 8GB GDDR5 RAM and 500GB hard drive. It has got 2 USB ports as the only front facing connections and Ethernet, HDMI, a proprietary auxiliary port for PlayStation Camera and a digital audio out. The PS4 utilizes 802.11 b/g/n wireless connection for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 for the wireless DualShock 4 controllers. The console has a very simple set up with the new DualShock 4 controller feeling more comfortable. It packs new features like the light sensor, central touch pad and the share button for uploading gameplay clips. By now, the PS4 has seen greater success than the PS3 with a positive reception from the fans and critics alike. Only time will tell whether PS4 can surpass the PS2 as Sony’s best selling console.
